can u tell is this a good time to try to get on new orleans police dept and are they making it easy for those who wants to come down also what do they loo in to background is it the same backgrounecheck that the dept of corrections does

I urge you to contact the NOPD directly for those specific questions. Some agencies continually do a hire mode, whereas others tend to lace it up to projected turn-overs or other attrition issues. The fiscal cycle is also a consideration.
Just call them during normal business hours, ask for human resources and talk to a recruiter.
Or, try to see if they have a web site, and make your inquiries there.
