Question
Hello,
my question is I am trying to become a police officer/sheriffs deputy. I am enrolled in a basic law enforcement class here in NC. I have tried cocaine once when I was young and wasn't able to get any up my nose. They list on the application that it may be a disqualifier. I am trying to be 100% honest so I wondering should I put yes for other drug use? I don't want something I have done in my past to effect my future. I have no felonies, no mental problems, no rehab, CLEAN record etc.

From what you have told me you shoudl not have any problem. The minor drug use, as long as it was over 3 or so years ago should not be a DQ for most agencies.

I am a 30+ year veteran police officer, I am currently the Police Academy Commander of an Academy in North FLorida. I have been training police officers since 1993 and have trained them in all aspects of law enforcement, including firearms, Driving and legal subjects including patrol techniques and others and training all over the world. I have trained over 5000 officers worldwide in the last 16 years of training.
