Question
QUESTION: My  daughter is new in Daytona LE academy.  She is excelling in all areas, also with firearms. She is a team leader in her class. However she took written exam today and failed by 4 or 5 questions.  She understands she can re-take the test once, but is in fear of failing again. She has battled dislexia in the past, but worked hard to get her AA degree.  All she has ever wanted to be is an officer. Will she have to completely start program over if she fails second time?

ANSWER: Hi Sunia,

She will have to retake Firearms and whatever other areas she has not completed. She should go to this web site, it has study quizes for all the subjects in the academy, including firearms:

http://volunteerwork.web.officelive.com/default.aspx

Have her study number 14, firearms, it should help. This website will help also:

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/policeacademytraining/

Tell her good luck..

QUESTION: Thank you so much for your time!  This is the kind of help I was looking for.  Also, more directly, I was trying to ask:  She is under the impression that if she fails test second time, she will have to complete entire course over again, and pay the $3500 again as well.  Is this info. correctly understood?  Thank you again.  sv in Daytona

Answer
Hello again,

The Florida training is broken down into Chapters and students are required to pass all the chapter exams or repeat those chapters they fail to pass with an 80% or higher. In failing Firearms, all she has to repeat are those chapters she has not completed the test on yet and passed. If she has taken any exams and passed, she will not have to take those blocks over again or pay for them.

Now each academy has some different rules but I don't think those are different than ours.

Be well and I wish her good luck.
