QuestionQUESTION: If you know or have heard anything about fort meade, maryland...you might know about what is there, hopefully. This will explain what kind of clearance i have, and you being in covert operations MIGHT put you in line for knowing how to go about gettin a job with FBI or CIA when i finish up a degree in homeland security + intelligience studies. I have a lot of tactical training for where i work and what i do, and am trying to see what i would have to do/learn/get another degree to work with a field in the FBI or CIA that involves going to the field quite a bit and what-not. Any information about this would be greatly appreciated, or perhaps another POC i can get in contact with. Thanks
ANSWER: Hello Fortin,
Well, I would encourage you to get on the web site of both of those agencies. Then, consult with a human resource rep, for additional details. You might as well go right to the agency, and get it best from them.
Keep in mind, that one of the agencies is primarily a law enforcement agency (FBI) and the other is not.
Also, take a look at DIA.
I would look at written and oral communications as a good area, that will serve you well in any capacity. I also prefer a double major, no minor as a viable approach.
And, going bilingual is always an asset.
Hope this is helpful.
Good Luck.

QUESTION: Which languages would be the best to start taking? And I am also doing a dual Master's program with both the degrees I am currently going for. Also, where would be some good areas that I could inquire about the DIA?
AnswerHello Fortin,
The DIA comes under the DoD...(Dept. of Defense).
There are a variety of intelligence oriented programs, throughout government. Most local and state agencies focus on criminal intelligence. Larger agencies also deal with Terrorism.
One of the best intell networks there is, is DEA...in my opine. And, that which is housed at EPIC, TX.
Foreign language is up to you, depending on what you have in mind for a career.
If DEA, Spanish would be helpful. Anything in the mid east, maybe Farsi. Chinese, Russian, etc. It depends on where you are headed for a career.
Also, take a good look at the State Department, for opportunity.
Some softer gigs, would include something with the RISS project.
You might want to explore some options, with various large agencies, and their subdivisions.
Good Luck.
