Careers: Police/Police Car lights and stopping

Question
I was told by a border partol officer that you legally do not have to stop for a vehicle unless it has red lights. Is this true and are all/most cop cars equiped with them somewhere?

Thank you for your time, I am asking in regards to the Fake cop pulling women over in pensacola, he only has one blue strobe light.

Answer
Each State is different in the color of their lights and their requirements. Does Florida have a Red Light on Emergency Vehicle law? What I mean is are Emergency vehicles to be only equipped with Red Lights? If this is the case then I would say your friend is accurate.

As with anything one has to weigh the risks. IF you or someone you know is suspicious when being pulled over, put your emergency flashers on and wave to the Officer indicating you see them and then find a well populated Well lit area to pull over. A real Police Officer will recognize this action, and applaud you for your safety. A fake Officer will probably drive on once the car is stopped. However, if there is a problem with this going on in your area I would advise you to still be cautious even after pulling over until the Officer is at the car and fully identifies him or her self.
