Question
Commander Chris Wagoner,

I am currently 18 and I can't enter my local Police Academy until I turn 21. I've been trying to keep physically fit but due to work hours I haven't been finding the time to do so. How can I still train and stay physically in shape while working a full time job?

Answer
Hey Ryan,

I work out at home using simple home equipment. Chairs, a few small push up helpers and some other creative items. You can do a real hard workout without much equipment at all. In fact its not just muscle that you need, stamina is almost as important if not more than muscle in LE. Being able to hang in there and fight longer than your opponent will almost help every time.

There are more but you get the idea. 20 minutes at least 3 times a week will keep you in fair shape, want to be better? do it 4-5 times a week and eat well. You know the drill. Check out those websites, they will tell you more than I can here in this space they give me.

Be well..

I have worked as a subject matter expert for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and helped to write the police curriculum for the State of Florida. I like answering questions about how to become a police officer, and questions about why did an officer do this or that type questions. I also like answering any questions you may have about police work in general. I do not mind helping with homework questions or trying to answer your questions about legal subjects that I have knowledge of. You will never know the answer until you ask! If you do ask a question, PLEASE take the time to at least rate the answer. I do not get paid to answer these questions and do it on my own time. If you ask, please rate it when I answer. Thanks!!!
