how old do you have to become a swat team member

The first thing that you have to understand is that there are thousands of police departments in this country and probably half have SWAT teams. Every police department has its own rules and standards. Thus there is NO age limit or requirement that covers every department.
What is required is a full knowledge of police work and years and years of experience. That means that a SWAT team member would first work for years on the street before he would ever have enough experience to do that job.
I hope that you are not asking this question because of something that you saw on television. NOTHING that you see on tv is realistic and anything that you see about police work or SWAT does not happen in real life.

I'd ask you to consider that when you watch police shows on television that they are NOT realistic and most of what you see does not happen in real life. Received numerous awards during my police career for expert investigations. Handled the most sensitive and confidential investigations. In 1999 I won an award for my work with high school students while working in my new career in a large suburban high school.
