Hello Commander,
right now, i am in my junior year of high school, and I am trying to establish some plan for the future.  I know I want to get into investigative law enforcement, but am unsure of the level.
I am going to major in Computer Criminology, and start out at either city or county level.  After gaining experience here, I might seek 'greener pastures' per say.
so my question is, did you ever have this same internal conflict?  And if so, how did you decide to stay where you were, rather than going state or federal.

Hi Patrick,

Well I have had that conflict several times, and been offered several very good jobs in Computer Investigations. But I have one thing I have to think about. Computers were not big until the last 10-12 years max, and I had already gotten 16 years in by then, for me to change I would have lost all that time for retirement.

If I was just starting out, I would look at the military computer crime unit: www.dc3.mil

Second choice would be federal level (www.usjobs.gov)

I am a 30+ year veteran police officer, I am currently the Police Academy Commander of an Academy in North FLorida. I have been training police officers since 1993 and have trained them in all aspects of law enforcement, including firearms, Driving and legal subjects including patrol techniques and others and training all over the world. I have trained over 5000 officers worldwide in the last 16 years of training.
