Careers: Police/My Home Address

Question
Do you have to give your employer your Home(physical)address or can you use a mailbox address like the ones they have at the UPS store.  I recently moved and decided against giving my employer my home address and purchased a mailbox address from UPS.  I decided this because the woman in human resources lied on me a couple of different times and told my boss that I owed a company money when I did not.  A company called me at work to verify employment and she lied and told my boss that I owed them money.  I had to call the company and do a conference call with my boss to get the company to tell him that I did not owe them any money.  Another time I had to take off  early and pay a ticket and she lied and told my boss that my license was suspended and I did not have a car.  Something is wrong with her and I do not trust her with my home address.  So, I am asking does an employer have to have a physical home address.  I have a cell phone where he can reach me any time he likes and purchased a mailbox at UPS where they can send what ever they like to that mailbox.

Answer
Samantha,

I know as a Police Officer the Department not only had a right to know our physical address, it was part of our rules and regulations. I can't say for sure about your employer, however I would think they can make it mandatory as a condition of employment. Now if you request them to keep it confidential, unless your a public employee them may have to do that. Hope this helped somewhat.
