Question
Hi,
I am in Kansas and closing in on retiring from the Army. Are there any agencies that do not require the FBAT prior to submitting my application. Or do I need to just get in my car and get on down there. Also can you give me a good idea on when is too soon to start my application prior to being separated from the military. Thanks alot.
Hi Chris (that sounds funny..)
There are agencies that do not require the FBAT prior to applying, but ALL require it before entering the academy. So if your going to apply, I would suggest taking the FBAT somewhere and then using that score to apply all over. The FBAT taken in Florida on an accepted test, is accepted everywhere (FDLE Rules).
You know you can put yourself through the academy without being hired and then market yourself as a certified applicant, just a thought.

I am a 30+ year veteran police officer, I am currently the Police Academy Commander of an Academy in North FLorida. I have been training police officers since 1993 and have trained them in all aspects of law enforcement, including firearms, Driving and legal subjects including patrol techniques and others and training all over the world. I have trained over 5000 officers worldwide in the last 16 years of training.
