Question
hello, I'm a student at Florida Gulf Coast University. I'm currently working on transferring my major from Biology to Criminal Justice. I had originally intended on going to Vet school and becoming a veterinarian but soon realized that that career path was not right for me. Instead, i became very interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement, after having met a few very influential police officers on campus. my questions are:

1.) What are the first steps I should take after getting my Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice?

2.) How long after becoming a police officer can i apply for the K9 force in my area?

i really appreciate your time in answering my questions.

thank you very much

sincerely

Answer
Daniel, you are well on your way to a prosperous career. Get an application from a local police agency and look for a law enforcement academy. Ask the agency if they would sponsor you at the academy. Once you are employed, give it a few years. Learn to be street smart then apply for the next K9 opening.
Good Luck
Paul
