Question
Hi, im 13 years old and my dream was always to become an Swat member , but i was just wondering what grades i need to Get a shot at becoming SWAT

Thank you

Answer
Hello Benji,
Good grades are a good thing, as is living healthy. You want to eat right, and stay away from things that are not healthy. Practice good citizenship, stay out of trouble, or even hanging around with those who get into trouble.
Stay away from drugs, and alcohol abuse.
Later, you'll want a good driving record.
It's good to know the minimum standards required, as you'll be competing for positions, and the competition gets very spirited.
First, you'll need to get hired, by a local, state or federal law enforcement agency. They hire approximately 10% of applicants, or less.
Then, you'll have to pass all their training, and time in position, prior to being eligible for a special assignment.
You see, you need to prepare for the entry level position, which is usually that of uniform patrol officer. Then, you'll need to distinguish yourself at that position.
When you finally get a shot at competing for a special ops position, it comes down to which, of the many candidates is the more attractive petitioner. The person with the most/best skill sets, tend to get favored.
Some of the competition has served in the military, in a combat environment, etc They become skilled and experienced at special ops.
You are on the right track, by thinking of your future.
I urge you to go to an agency you are thinking about, and ask their human resource recruiter, or personnel person for all their employment information, so you'll have a better idea on what is sought after experience.
On your own, keep your upper body and hand strength strong, and work on your endurance.
Consider hobbies, that could be useful: martial arts, gun clubs, sports, and try for as many RED CROSS "First Aid" certs as you can earn along the way.
Take a look at the free on line courses offered by FEMA and OSHA. You'll get the idea on organization and emergency services.
It'll all come together for your understanding, as you proceed.
Hope this is helpful.
Good Luck,
Semper Fi.
