Careers: Police/K9 trainer

Question
I very much would love to train for the job that you have--training K9 dogs.  Do you have to be a policeman?  or can you become a certified trainer with a different degree.

Answer
Briana, in most larger agencies, like mine, we train handlers to become trainers. Smaller agencies are looking for certified k9 trainers all the time. They are hard to come by as after a lenghty career we tend to retire to the good life. So I suggest getting a college degree of somekind and become a police officer. This will give you the upper hand on your selection.
Good Luck in your adventure,
Paul
