Question
i had a deferred felony for credit card abuse in Texas im going to get my record sealed and i would like to know if there is any way i can get a job in the career in criminal justice even if i have a associate degree will that help and would it help to move to a different state that will allow me a job

Answer
Hi Marcus,

Well there is a difference in being able to attend a police academy and actually getting hired by a law enforcement agency.

With your arrest, you may be able to meet the statutory requirements to get into an academy and even may meet the state requirements to be a police officer. But with any felony arrest at all it is very difficult to get hired. You have to remember your not the only one applying for the job and you have to look at it from the departments perspective, who should they hire? The person with no arrest or the person with the felony arrest? You have to be better than the other people applying. You have to make your self worth them looking at your qualifications. If your not more qualified than the next person or a better applicant then you more than likely will not get the job.

Sorry, read this it will help explain things in greater detail:

I also like answering any questions you may have about police work in general. I do not mind helping with homework questions or trying to answer your questions about legal subjects that I have knowledge of. You will never know the answer until you ask! If you do ask a question, PLEASE take the time to at least rate the answer. I do not get paid to answer these questions and do it on my own time. If you ask, please rate it when I answer. Thanks!!!
