Question
I'm planning to go to rasmussen college to become a crime scene investigator, but I have a misdemeanor DUI on my record. How difficult would it be for me to get employment, if any.

Answer
Thanks for the question.

It really depends on what state you reside in and the requirements of that state and the law enforcement agency.

I am in South Carolina, and this state has a 10 year wait time for eligibility after a DUI conviction, not sure about other states.

There are some states or agencies out there where you can become a CSI without being a police officer, so it is possible that you could have a DUI conviction and still actively work for a police agency.

You need to ask around some of your local or state law enforcement agencies and see what the requirements are for eligibility. Please continue your school and pursue your dream.

Good luck and best wishes!
