Question
I am a sergeant in the NYPD and due to retire after 20 years in May of 2011 at the age of 41. I am interested in applying to the Annapolis Police Department, as they are currently accepting only lateral transfers with MPTC certification under job listing 4009. Is the NYPD academy and in-service training recognized by the State of Maryland to satisfy this certification or would I need to attend another academy?  I have recieved all of the training required in the job listing through my agency. Additionally, is there a maximum age limit for employment? Thank you for your time.

You'll have to do what's called "Comparative Compliance", about 5 weeks of Maryland laws, etc.  I don't believe you are going to qualify under that listing.  No max age though, which is a good thing.  Give their recruiting Sgt a call, worth the time and trouble to do so.
