Question
QUESTION: Hi,
I'm an American woman married and living in Britain with my British husband
who is a Met Police Officer. He works in a dept that handles childrens
murders. He has a vast amount of experience in serious crime investigations
and we would like to move back to the USA. But we don't know if all his skills
and training can be utilised and how he could go about looking for a job. Can
you offer any advise? We are interested in South Carolina area.

Mrs. Horne

ANSWER: Mrs. Horne,

Thanks for the question.

It sounds like your husband would be a great addition to any law enforcement agency. However, in South Carolina, you are required to be a US Citizen to be eligible for hiring.

The sooner he can apply for citizenship the better!

Good luck and best wishes!

QUESTION: Thank you!
Are there any US States or positions in law enforcement that would hire
someone with intelligence experience and help with his citizenship. I heard
that government. jobs can offer immediate clearance and citizenship if they
feel you are an asset to the job. Is there any truth to this.
Again thank you for your attention to this.

Best Regards. Mrs Horne

Answer
Mrs. Horne,

Thanks for the follow-up.

I am not sure of the fast track to citizenship, but it wouldn't be out of the realm of possibilities.

You may want to check with the US Department of State, or US Justice Department, as well as the US Attorney General's office.

Another possibility, if you are close to London, is to check with the US Embassy or if there are some FBI Agent offices there.

Again, good luck and best wishes!
