Question
A friend of mine wants to be a police officer, but mouthed off and insinuated a threat to the mother of her bf's child (stated the ex's attitude would likely get her killed in one conversation and that the ex was lucky the bf was keeping her from hunting the ex down in another conversation), who retaliated with a restraining order specifying that she may not possess firearms. The ex plans to renew this regularly every year, whether my friend is still with her bf or not. Can she do this automatically or can my friend dispute it? She didn't dispute it the first time because she didn't think it was worthwhile and the ex supposedly had printouts of what she had said online. My friend took the statements off her profile the same day though. If the restraining order is active, can she still become an officer? Or, if you have any idea, military?

What you're asking about is more along the lines of family law, and not really in the realm of becoming a police officer. I would have your friend contact a family law attorney and discuss it with them.
If the restraining order is active then your friend may not become a police officer or join the military. As having a active domestic injunction prohibiting firearms would disqualify your friend from either of those positions.
Do your friends best bet is to console a family law attorney and let them handle it for them.

I have been training police officers since 1993 and have trained them in all aspects of law enforcement, including firearms, Driving and legal subjects including patrol techniques and others and training all over the world. I have trained over 5000 officers worldwide in the last 16 years of training.
