Question
I would like to start by thanking you for serving us for so long. Hats off to the officers in our country.

I owned a grand marquis and LOVED it. It still runs but was starting to break down after 275k miles(wow). This is why I decided to Buy a 2004 p71. After alot of reserch I found many aspects of the p71 were beefed up and to me that meant a better grand marquis. Now I have a p71 and want to know about the inside lights. They DON'T work. They have no wires yet I love them because I never get cut off, Tail gated or harassed in traffic. In fact I find my comute relaxing like never before. My question is am I doing anything wrong by driving it? I have been pulled over and the officers said nothing but I would like to know for sure.

Thank you for your time -Tony-

Answer
Good morning Tony,

From what I am gathering you have purchased an old patrol unit? As long as it does not say "police interceptor" on it or have any blue or red lights in it anymore, your fine. The reason the inside lights don't work is probably they were disconnected by the agency when they removed all the other specialty lights and equipment (siren, camera, computer and more), or like I used to do, disconnected by the officer. Nothing like inside lights to light you up and make you a target at night.

Your fine as long as you vehicle does not say the word "police,  sheriff or trooper" on it anywhere on it and you do not have colored lighting. Enjoy the ride. Its pretty funny to see how people move out of your way a lot of the times isn't it. Makes the commute a lot nicer. :)
