Question
Hi. I live in Eugene, OR. I am 23 years old male and have been in college for three years studying political science. I would like to know what steps I have to take to become a police officer. I would ideally like to work in Eugene, but would like to know if they're hiring here, when they'll be hiring if they're not, and where the closest city is where they would be hiring. I am looking for a job as a cop specifically, not any other job in law enforcement.

Answer
Tony:

Every agency has a website and Eugene is no exception.  Google 'Eugene Police' and no doubt it'll pop up.  Hiring announcements are almost always posted there.   If not there, then on the cities website.  That's the easiest way to find out.

You could also call the PD and simply ask, likely as not they have a recruiter who'll fill you in.
