Answer
Good morning Jorg!

Where are you from in Germany? I lived in Kitengen near Wurzburg for several years while serving in the US Army.

Anyway in order to become a police officer in the United States you must first be a US citizen. If you are willing to go through the process of becoming a US citizen to get on a police force in the United States then most of the requirements are set up and maintained by each separate state. There is no national law enforcement other than the Federal Bureau of Investigation and they really do not have a bomb disposal unit.

If you become US citizen and decide to apply your best bet for getting into a bomb disposal unit would be a large metropolitan city Police Department such as New York, Chicago, Philadelphia, Miami, or Los Angeles. Something large like those. Once you become a police officer in the United States you are required by the vast majority of departments to serve anywhere from one to five years as a patrol officer before they allow you to specialize in a unit like you dear bomb disposal.

So between the time it would require you to become a US citizen and the time you have to put as a patrol officer on the road prior to applying for a specialty unit such as bomb disposal you are looking at several years minimum.

You can find out more about becoming a police officer in the United States at my webpage at the following address:http://sites.google.com/site/flaleohelp/

if after reading that you still have questions feel free to post a follow-up or new question here.

Be well and stay safe.
