Question
1.   The use of Web-based services has the potential to integrate not only law enforcement data, but also data from other sources. It would be possible for law enforcement officials to have ready access to building permits, liquor licensing, and even municipally owned utility records. What new ways to interact with the other aspects of state and local government do you see? What problems and opportunities will emerge?

2.   Exercise: In 1996 the Public Safety Wireless Network (PSWN) program was established by the federal government. The focus of the program is to improve public safety wireless communications interoperability. The PSWN Web site has a unique online tutorial program that uses fictional case histories safety employee should take. You can experience the results of these decisions online. Go to www.pswn.gov/libdetail.cfm?secid=33 and choose one of their tutorials:
A)   Shared System Development through Coordination and Partnership.
B)   Formulating Successful Funding Strategies for Shared System Development.
3.   Visit a state, local, or campus police station. What level of information sharing or interoperability do they have?

4.   Discuss an incident wherein you would have made a better decision if only you’d known?

Answer
Good afternoon Wolfenson,

Your questions sound as if they are from a school project of some sort. While I do not mind assisting you with school projects I don't like answering the questions completely for you. I will give you resources where you can find the questions yourself or give you ideas and concepts that you can use to formulate your own answers but I will not answer school questions in their entirety for you for you to use on your own. That would mean I would be doing your thinking for you and it's something you need to develop.

An answer question number one this is already occurring. There are services out there the law enforcement and the public can use to search all public record databases for information that you stated above. One of them is, once we use it as LEXIS-NEXIS. You may want to look it up and see exactly what they do and how they do it which would then give you a better formulate an answer for this question.

There is no question here for me to answer your asking me to go online and go through a tutorial which is what you're supposed to do not me.

3. Visit a state, local, or campus police station. What level of information sharing or interoperability do they have?

This would vary depending upon where you live and what state you live in. You will have to go to your local state, local, or campus police station to see what their capabilities are. I could tell you what capabilities are several different police departments but unless they are in relation to you then this question would not be correctly answered.

4. Discuss an incident wherein you would have made a better decision if only you’d known.

This is a personal question and not something that I can answer for you.

These are simple questions and can easily be answered by little bit of research on the Internet, if you take the time to do some searching and maybe even make a few phone calls you could easily have these four questions answered in a short amount of time. My area of expertise is not in your personal knowledgebase and therefore I cannot answer some of these questions for you.
