Careers: Police/Failed past employer drug test

If I had failed a past employers drug test for THC 3 years ago, will that automatically disqualify me from getting a law enforcement job?

I don't believe, in my opinion, it would disqualify you.  However, one needs to examine your use in context of your situation.  Did your employer terminate your employment?  Was the test routine or in response to job performance? Other issues could be: addiction vs recreation, any treatment issues, arrests, motor vehicle infractions involving substance abuse or any other use of illicit substances.

Be honest with your answers and be prepared to explain the circumstances if you need to.

I hope this information helps.

Best regards,
