Careers: Police/disqualifications

Ok... I have been reading a lot of forums and snippets of different sites saying any drug offense is an immediate disqualification.  My question is this, I have a misdemeanor possession from more then 10 years ago also disorderly conduct and criminal damaging all misdemeanor from more then 10 years ago (as I said) since then I have had a speeding ticket and two seat belt tickets would I be ok or start looking at another carrer? Thank you for your time.

Ten years time for minor offenses may not automatically disqualify you.  However, background investigators will be more concerned about your behavior at the time you were arrested. Also, age is a factor.  But, ten years is a long time.  More weight will be given to your current situtation; character, emotional stability, integrity and employment.

Good luck,
