Question
Why is it important to solve homicides? Do you believe solving a homicide is a team effort?

Answer
Whitney, try to imagine someone you know...or even your favorite pet being killed by someone...wouldn't you want the person responsible to be held accountable for his/her actions?  Homicides need to be solved in order to maintain a semblance of order in the world.  Perhaps in our preshistoric times, killings were random and were not something to dwell on, but now we live in a structured society in which people have recognized that the taking of a life by someone is an important matter and must be dealt with.  And, yes, the solving of homicides is very definately a team effort...the investigators, forensic specialists, photographers, latent fingerprint experts, computer analyists, even those who prepare the investigators notes.  Hope this helps.
