Question
Hi, I am a freshman in high school and I have been considering a career in law inforcement for years and I really have a passion for it. I have researched different career fields and I have had my eye on a K9 Officer. What classes should I take that would help me in this field? And could you inform me on your life as a K9 officer or well what ever job you were employed in.

Answer
Jordan, a career in Law Enforcement is a wonderful life. Few rewards but great satisfaction in a job well done. As for K9, I spent 13 years with four different dogs. I enjoyed each and every minute with all of them. I recommend becoming a police officer first and after you learn this job, a few years, then move on to K9. It takes a special cop to get the most out of this tool. There aren't any specific classes but learning animal behavior is a good start.
Good Luck and keep me informed!
Thanks Paul
