-----Question-----
Dear Jason,

I am 14 years old. I am interested in a career in Law Inforcement. I was wondering if thier were any youth programs/jobs that I could get into prior to college that would help me in the future. If so what are they?

         Thanks,
         Nick

Nick:

Try looking into your local area's Police Explorer programs, as well as talking to your local agencies and see what they have to offer, many of them have some sort of cadet type program that they will gladly get you involved in.  The first, best, place to look is at their individual websites, you can usually find them if you google the name of the town/city/county/state you want to work.

Best of luck!
Jason

Answer
Nick:

A citizens police academy is something put on by the police department to show citizens of the community what it takes to become a Law Enforcement officer.  If they will take someone your age, I would encourage you to sign up, it will def help you and give you some insight.

Best Regards,
Jason
