Question
I have read up on most of the police officer requirements in the state of SC, but what I can't find is if tattoos are not allowed. I know for SC highway state trooper, no visible tattoos are allowed of any kind. I was wondering if all law enforcement agencies had the same requirements?
Thanks

Answer
Stephanie,

Thanks for the question.

The answer to your question is no. Some, but not all, police agencies will have an internal policy that will cover tattoos/body piercing. Some agencies will probably be close to what the S.C.H.P. has in place, but others are more lenient.

There is no state statue or academy rules regulating law enforcement placement of tattoos.

I hope this helps you out.

Good luck and best wishes!
