Question
What is a typical "hit of a canine" on a car that has been detained? If a canine "hits" on a car what does that mean as far as the search of the vehicle? What if the canine "hits" and the vehicle is searched and nothing is found?

Answer
Tabitha, when a dog alerts to a vehicle, it is probable cause to get consent or a search warrant to enter the vehicle. If nothing is found the car may be released. The handler will then document the search. Remember, just because nothing was found doesnt mean there was not something there previously.
