Question
Good day! My name is Brad and I'm a student at a middle school in
Michigan. We have been researching careers in my class. I would like
to be a police officer or something to do with law. Could you answer
the following questions? What classes do you think I should take in
high school? What type of activates do you suggest I get involved in
while I ‘m in high school? Look forward to you're response. You can
email Me at lvolz@casscity.k12.mi.us Thank you for your time

Answer
Brad:

Sure!  Being in Law Enforcement is one of the most fullfilling jobs you can do.

I'd advise taking all the English, Writing, and typing/computer classes you can get.  Cops do far more writing than anything else.  I've used probably 500 pens in my career, and only pulled my duty weapon in anger three times.

Other classes you should take are Gym, PE, cops do alot of physical labor/activity.

Get involved in public speaking, journalism, and student goverment, all of those things will help you talk to people, write a story (most police reports are a simple story, written so anyone can read it), and learn how politics work. Cops aren't very political, but the politicians make the laws, therefore, it will help you if you understand how that's done.

Good luck!~

Jason
