Question
I am 24 years old and currently a college junior pursuing a bachelor's in criminal justice.  I was honorably discharged from the military a couple of years ago, and although it was honorable, it did have to do with experiencing depression while serving. Since then i have been deemed completely mentally fit, without depression or anxiety by VA hospital officials.  Will this be a problem when pursuing a career in law enforcement?

Answer
Although I cannot answer to how evaluators would react to the depression issue regarding your discharge, the fact you are pursuing a criminal justice degree is exemplary.  I was tapped in mid-career to sit on oral boards for candidates, and can state that your approach to your future would weigh heavily in a positive sense.  I would consider you a strong candidate.  I also served in the military and see the current military crisis we are in as totally depressing.  I think many of my contemporaries would also...I think you are on the right track, so go for it!  The best of luck although I don't think you will need it.
