Question
Hi, my name is Chris I am a sophmore in college. I am majoring in Finance and minoring in Criminal Justice. I so far have a GPA of 3.9 and I am in very good physical shape. I have a perfect background and just two traffic violations (not DWI or DUI). I would really like to become an officer in the Federal Law rather than State Law. Could you please give me any information on my chances of becoming a federal agent. Thanks

Answer
Chris,

Thanks for the question.

Your credentials that you have shared are good, but mere physical conditioning and good grades are not the only thing that will be checked for a federal law enforcement position. However, it is a good start.

A thorough background check will be conducted on you. A thorough credit check will be done, family and friends will be checked. Basically, you will be placed under a microscope anywhere from 3-9 months while your background is being investigated.

You can also expect a psychological examination, polygraph examination and medical examination.

Hope this helps out.

Good luck and best wishes!
