Question
Hello, my name is Charisse and I am going to take the written and hopefully the physical agility test for P.G. County Police on July 13, 2007.  I have a few questions I would like to ask.  First is drug usage.  I have experimented with marijuana in the past and the last time is approximately 2 1/2 3 yrs. ago, how will this effect me for qualifying? Also, I have a court case going on with my oldest two children father, it's about him wanting more time with our children?  And also he has called the sheriff dept. on me on a couple of occassions but it was not his scheduled visitation or he was just late, how will that effect me?  I know of people using drugs but at those particular times i have walked away from them (in my past) years ago, how will this effect me?  and is the polygraph test hard at all, and what kinds of questions will i get asked?

Answer
Charisse:

First, congrats!  Right up front, let the investigators know about all this, exactly as you've explained it to me.  Sounds like you should be fine.  In regard to the poly, be as honest as you can be.  Tell the whole truth, don't leave anything out.  People fail the poly for dumb reasons, lying about dumb stuff that wouldn't have DQ'd them to begin with, if they just told the truth.  Just remember that and you'll be fine.
