Question
I'm a freshman in high school and I'm debating what i really what to be in life. i
think I'm going more towards the svu than homicide because the fact of seeing
people died all the time doesn't really excite me. I'm also a rape survivor and
I'm proud to day so i think that i can help people that where once in my
poition. I'm still very confused i love both law and order and i know that the
real life isn't like that but still i want to give being a cop and if i get that
chance to work in one of those presincs.thank you for your time and please
respond me as soon as possible

Answer
Kiki, based on what you said in your posting, I would say that you seem to be inclined toward helping victims more than solving crimes.  This is especially so since you have suffered a serious trauma yourself...sometimes it takes someone who has experienced such an experience to be able to identify with victims...they seem to sense that a person who has been a victim as well can better understand the dynamics of what happens to a person.  At this point in your life nothing written in granite...you can spend some time until you have to make a decision weighing all the pros and cons of both careers.  You sound like a very nice person and If I were suffering from the effects of a serious crime I think I would want someone like you helping me negotiate the many hurdels after something bad happens.  At any rate, I wish you well and hope the future bodes well for you.
