Zoe:

First, police officers write. Alot.  Every single day.  They write and read more than most folks.  Take courses in English, creative writing, journalism.  These will help you prepare for the career you want.  Being good with computers is a plus, but you have to be able to write and take information down as a police officer.

You would start out, after completing the police academy, on patrol, answering calls and responding to incidents, working traffic as well.  After a few years, you could transfer, if you wanted, to different specialities, such as detective, K9, traffic unit, SWAT, etc, depending on what you are interested in.

Good luck with your career!  It's a great job.

Best regards,

Jason

hiya jason
your reply was very helpful to me but as you say i need to be able to do english but english is a subject that i have difficulties with. so what could i do to improve as i would love to be a police woman thanks a lot zoe x

Answer
Zoe:

Basically, keep working on your writing skills.  I know it sucks, but if you really want to do this as a career, you'll need them as an officer.   If you really, really, want this, that is the way to go.  If you were out of shape physically, you could work out to build up your strength.  Same goes for this.  Just a different kind of workout.

 Best of luck!

Jason
