Question
Thanks for reading my question, sort of stumbled onto this site and hope it helps.  I have already been through an academy, graduated, and secured a commission with a police dept. My question is other than going through the actual day, day after day, would there be any books that you know of that would help out a rookie like myself with getting better with tactics, procedure, what I can do to be a better officer. Thanks for all your help.

Answer
Danny:

First, congrats on getting hired!  There are several books I highly advise, they are the 'Street Survival' series put out by Calibre Press.  If you google that, (Calibre Press..spelled that way) you'll hit their website, and be able to order those, and numerous others.  They also have regular 'Street Survival' update emails.  Another good resource is www.officer.com , which has news and a forum for officers.

Stay safe, and good luck on your career!

Jason
