Different agencies have different policies in regard to SWAT or SRT teams, but generally, the officer has to be selected after a series of tests, and spend time on the road in patrol prior to becoming a member of the team. Physical fitness, outstanding marksmanship, and coolness under pressure are just some of the attributes that departments look for when selecting members for these teams.
