Careers: Police/Can't Pass Written

Question
Sir,
I'm 28 years old and I have been trying to become a WSP Trooper for 2 years now. It's my understanding that the WSP written test is one of the most difficult test to take. I have taken the test 3 times and getting ready to attempt again. This will be my last attempt for the year. I'm getting discouraged with the fact that I can't pass the written test.

I've worked at losing weight (55lbs.), started a trianing routing, and studied countless manuals and advise. I've done ride alongs, spoke with troopers and their families. It's the lifestyle and career I want but can't seem to obtain.

Thoughts and suggestions would be most appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Will

Answer
Hi Will!

It sounds like the biggest issue you have is the written test.   I'm not sure I can give you any advice that you haven't already tried!   Perhaps the best advice I can give is "relax" when you take the test.  I know it sounds kinda dumb, but stressing out about the test may be causing the problems with passing.

Keep studying, and taking practice tests if you can.  I know people who have tried for years to get hired by a particular agency, and finally made it.  You just have to keep plugging away, and try not to lose heart.

Best of luck!

Jason
