Careers: Teaching - Pursuing a teaching career

Expert: James J. Kovalcin - 9/28/2008

Question
Dear James, i graduated about a year ago with a major in computer science and a business minor.
I've lately though, started of seriously changing my career and to head for the teaching path.
Since i reside outside the US, i wanted to earn an online masters degree in Education.
But i sort of wanted to take the opinion of an expert, like yourself, in the specialisation to go further into.
Do you think its possible in the first place for me to take a masters in Ed. since i hold a different bachelors degree?

Thanks for your time.

Answer
You can get a masters degree in education independently of any undergraduate degree you may have. But keep in mind that public schools in the US virtually require a degree in the subject area and/or that you pass a content area test. Make sure that the school is FULLY accredited! A number of recent scandals have highlighted this issue.
