Question
I am a student on my way to becoming a teacher in New York. I am wondering what is required to receive your teaching certificate in your state? I can compare this information to what I know about NY and  other states to get an overall idea of requirements.

Answer
Dear Bryan,

Sorry - I lost all track of time!  I think you will do far better to write to the Department of Education or visit the websites for each state - they tell details that I am sure to leave out.  I know NH requires new teachers to take the Praxis and renewal rules change every year.  And it's been 35 years since I began the routine - and LOTS has changed since then.

I just did a search for State Department of Education and got LOTS of hits.  If you add in the name of the state (as in New Hampshire State Department of Education) you will get more than enough information.
