QuestionWhat is all about the concept of education?
What is the relevance of Education in our contemparary world?
AnswerThere is no "correct" answer to this question. For many different people the importance is different. In early America the main purpose of public, as well as private education, was to prepare the young so that they could read their bibles! Eventually, this also became important for understanding and participating in public and political discourse. From the very first days of the printing press the goal was to be able to pass information about "how to do" things.
Today, of course, we have moved in a very different direction. As our world has become more and more complex it has becomes much more important that a person be well educated. Many special areas have become incredibly complex and the lack of sufficient education becomes crippling. The uneducated person is, and will continue to be, the person with the low income job! For all practical purposes the only general pathway to an economically satisfying life is through advanced education. You almost have to have a college degree for entry into more and more fields.
Finally, education for many is the gateway into a more fulfilling personal life as well.
