Question
What countries have international schools with English as their native language? Are there many international schools, outside of Washington D.C and New York, NY, located in the United States?
Thank you.

Answer
Michelle, I'm not sure if you mean what English speaking countries have international schools where English is the language of instruction or if you mean schools in other countries that teach in English.  Assuming the latter, I encourage you to visit the website below and click on the various countries to learn how many schools teach country has.

Now, those schools are international and generally have a US or British curriculum.

But, some schools operate under similar conditions but they are not accredited in the US so often don't appear in listings such as the one I gave you.  I am a consultant for a school in Indonesia where 60% of the day is spent learning in English and 40% in Mandarin.  So you will find only a portion of the actual number of international schools around the world.

Regarding the international schools outside of DC and NY, I'm not sure I'll be much help.  But, if you contact the Department of Education in a given state, they should be able to tell you.  In case you aren't aware, they are located in the state capitals ... you can do a web search for state departments of education OR choose a state and then type ... for example: New Hampshire Department of Education.

Good luck.
