Hello.
I am finishing my last years at college in the lead up to a Ba hons with a qualified teacher status in university. Im currently studying in London and am wondering if you would happen to know if i can use this qualification Overseas in California, America. My family was thinking of moving over there and it would be great if i could teach over there, thanks for your help.

Dear Stina,

Each state in the US is very different and it is hard to give an answer that would fit the varying circumstances.  You need to contact the State Department of Education in Sacramento, CA to answer your questions.  They will give you the information you need to become certified in the California and can answer your questions about coming from overseas.  

With the teacher shortages beginning to show up in some states, California might be one that is able to bring in teachers from abroad.  But, the emphasis would be on hiring Americans first and there may be some restrictions about hiring expats.
