Question -
How can I make myself available teaching overseas with 13 years teaching experiences in elementary schools in Malaysia?
Answer -
Dear Dorenda,

I will need some more information.  What training and degrees do you hold?  From where did you get your teaching degree?  Where have you been working for the last 13 years (international schools, local schools, etc)?  What specific teaching duties did you have and for what grades?

There are several organizations in the US that hold conferences around the world.  Once I know more about your credentials and specific experience, I may be able to help you more.

Dear Debba,
Thanks for the reply. For your info, i had my degree in Education from a local university. I have been teaching in a local elementary school for the past 13 years. At present, I am the Head of the English Panel in my school and I am teaching in primary six.
Basically, I think there's not much difference teaching in local or oversea students but my points of grabbing any chance that comes my way are gaining more experiences with various teaching methods used in other countries and of course testing my own credibility in the said field.

Answer
Dear Doreen,

It sounds like you are teaching in schools that have a British slant on education.  ECIS (European Counsel of International Schools) holds conferences in Europe (www.ecis.org) ... don't know where else.  I suggest you visit TIE online (www.tieonline.com).  You might find some things there that are helpful.

International Schools Services (ISS) is another agency you might contact (www.iss.edu).  They can help you get exposure to schools, if they determine your certification is equal to what you might get in the US.

I hope these are helpful.
