Question
I am a physics teacher for the past 16 years, teaching at 11&12 standards in india.I did my masters in physics in india.I have now immigrated to US.I have no teaching experince in US schools.I am looking for employment oppertunites in high schools. How do i proceed.I would like to do a course in intructional technology.where can i do such a course .I am presently residing in california.

Answer
Instructional technology is nice, but it is not the most important consideration. I hope you won't find this presumptuous, but in my experiences, the biggest difficulty I have had with teachers from India is that they are difficult for many Americans to understand. It is critical for you to learn American English and articulation. I suggest an intensive public speaking program as your first step in preparing for a job. This will not only aid you in the classroom, it will also do wonders for your chances in a job interview. I hope this helps. Let me know if you need any other advice.
