Question
Hi,
I am currently entering my 4th year at university (in Ontario) and will be going onto teachers college after my university graduation. I plan on graduating from university with a BA Honours degree, with History as my major and Geography and Religion as teachables as well. I am thinking of trying to get a teaching job overseas once I am finished with teachers college. I was therefore wondering if you could give me some directions as to were to look about schools that may be interested.

Answer
Dear Stephanie,

My apologies for not answering this in the 3 days - don't know how it got by because I answered ones that came after it.  It must not have shown up in my 'unanswered questions' ... who knows.

Anyway, I urge you to get a subscription to TIE (The International Educator).  You can do that online.  It will give you LOTS of information about places to go and how to contact them.

International Schools Services is another organization that you can contact online.  They have a newspaper that is excellent, called Newslinks.  Again, search online and you will be set to go.

Queens College in Canada holds a hiring conference each year - they also advertise in TIE and, I believe, Newslinks.

University of Northern Iowa also has hiring fairs.  And Ohio State University, I think.  Visiting their websites should connect you - but you might need to phone.

ECIS (European Council of International Schools) and Search Associates are two others to look for.

I hope these get you started.  If you have trouble finding them, please get back to me and I'll see what I can dig up from some other heads of school.

Again, sorry I let you slip by.

Debba
