Question
Hi

I have just started to work as a freelance writer. I have initial work experience as a Content Writer in an E-learning company. Recently, someone has approached me to write the content for a website. Basically I need to write for 4 sections of the site, and each section needs to be of 2 pages length at least.

I am not sure how much I should quote. Would appreciate a reply as I need to send a quote today itself.

Regards
Annie

Answer
Hi, Annie!

This is a good question. If I were in your place, I'd start to determine a "per-word" rate for your writing, lower than which you won't accept a job. It can be as low as a penny a word, up to a dollar a word. So a 500 word content article might be charged at $5.00 or at $500.00. It's really up to you on what you want to make for your time, and I'd stick to multiples of 5---so 1 cent per word, 5 cents, ten cents, twenty-five cents, etc. Then it'll be up to the company on what they are willing to pay. Obviously, your goal is to make the most money possible for your best work, and the company's goal is to get the best quality for the least amount possible. Somewhere in the middle is what will be acceptable to both of you.

Hope that helps and little, and let me know if I can answer any other questions. Good luck! :)
