Question
Hi, I'm Brian, I live in the U.S. but i see you live in Ireland, i hope you can still help me, as your little bio thinggy was the only one that said you could help in copywriting. so i write some short stories in my free time, and I was wondering how to get my work copywrited, and if it costs any money to get it copywrited? thanks!

Answer
Hi Brian,

Many thanks for your question.  Everything you write is automatically copyrighted to you but there are some steps that you can take also to ensure that no one steals your stuff.  A lot of people actually post a copy of what they write to themselves and leave it unopen.  That way if someone was to steal their stuff they have proof that they wrote it and when they wrote it.  You have to be sure to leave the envelop unopened.

You can also pay for your copyright and the copyright government in the US has a great FAQ's page where you will find more information.  The link is here http://www.copyright.gov/help/faq/

I hope this helps to answer your question.

Kind regards,

Amanda
