Question
I want to create a webpage for my work but I don't want to have to spend money. Do you know of any places where I can make my webpage? Thanks.

~Meg

Answer
Hello Meg:

I'm sorry, I don't know of any sites that currently offer free web hosting. If you find one that does, please let me know. If you see an ad for a "free web site," you can be sure that they will charge you upfront for something, most likely hosting. The site I have my website hosted with charges me $10 per month.

Before you can build a website, you need a domain name. That's the part that comes after the "@" in your email address - as in, mail@pygmypress.com. Pygmypress.com is my domain name. I pay a yearly fee ($35) for the exclusive use of my domain name for a year. The host you choose - There are hundreds of them out there - may or may not give you a webpage, and may or may not help you build it. The cheapest one I know is webspawner.com. They will give you one page for free, but for most people, that's not enough, and you need to know HTML. They charge $4.99 a month for unlimited pages.

If you want a decent-looking website that does what you want it to do, you will need help, and for that help you must pay. The more complex it gets, the more it will cost.
I'm sorry to be so negative about this, but facts exist to be faced.

If you want a good, workable website, why not learn HTML? It isn't hard to learn - you learned to talk, didn't you? HTML isn't nearly as difficult as that, and you were just a baby!

I hope this helps. If it does, a nice rating would be greatly appreciated. I am proud of my high score over 850 questions.

And good luck with your search.
