Long time ago when technology wasn't like today ow Caribbean cooked their rice?
is there anyway difference between their way of cooking now compare to before (Historically)?

Answer -
Hello,

Rice has been popular in the caribbean since about the end of the 1800's, mainly as a result of better irrigation systems and agricultural development.

Traditionally, cooking was done over wood or coal in adobe like stoves and iron kettles.

This is still true in rural and empoverished homes.

The recipies and methodology is still the same.

Some people prefer the "old style" cooking as some flavour is passed to the food from the wood and smoke, I personally like to eat out in the country whenever I can just to taste this difference.

Nowdays it's propane stoves mainly and electrical tops for the wealthy, mostly like in the US.

Leo

Answer
Hello KIki
Before the spanish and the slaves there were the original people of the caribbean, the Taino people.

These people were Arawacks of the Taino cultural line.

Their foodstuffs were basically fish, some rudimetary agriculture mainly producing Yuca (a root) for casava bread, much as is done still today by this same people were they survived.

Today, wedding parties and important celebrations are accompanied by roast pork, rice, fried chicken and salads.

Cuban food is distinguished by their preference of black beans over red or kidney beans and white beans.
